🧠 How to Use This Video in Class

🎯 Objective:

  • Introduce the concept of pathogens as disease-causing organisms (e.g. bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa).
  • Help students understand the importance of hygiene, vaccination, and immunity.

🧑‍🏫 Pre-Viewing Setup:

  • Ensure audio and video projection is working clearly for the whole class.
  • Write the following prompt on the board: “What do you think a pathogen is?”
  • Tell students to listen for three things: What pathogens are, role of vaccines, and how we can protect ourselves.

▶️ While Watching:

  • Pause at key points (e.g. after the definition of a pathogen) and ask quick comprehension questions.
  • Allow note-taking or provide a short video worksheet with fill-in-the-blank definitions and true/false statements.

🗣️ Post-Viewing Discussion:

  • Review student answers to the prompt: “What is a pathogen?”
  • Ask: “What are some real-world examples of how we avoid pathogens?” (e.g. vaccines, handwashing, food safety)
  • Discuss the concept of immunity (natural vs. acquired).

✍️ Optional Activity:

  • Group work: Each group creates a mini-poster or slide titled “Top 3 Ways to Prevent Disease”.
  • Homework idea: Watch another video on how vaccines work and write a short summary.
